President Macron spoke with Kenyan students at University of Nairobi

Institutionnel

Drawing on the new strategy of attractiveness of international students, Emmanuel Macron has placed youth and student mobility at the heart of the renewal of the partnership between France and Kenya.

At the end of his three-day tour of East Africa, Emmanuel Macron spoke to 500 students at the University of Nairobi. Recalling that the challenges facing the African continent are also those of France, Emmanuel Macron gave his vision of a new relationship between France and Kenya.

"Welcome in France"

The "Welcome in France" strategy was at the heart of the exchanges with the students. Emmanuel Macron emphasized his will to change perceptions between France and Kenya and relied on the new strategy of attractiveness of international students, launched by the government in November 2018, to achieve this.

Emmanuel Macron emphasized the importance of exchanges and cross-mobility between our two countries. He encouraged Kenyan students to learn French and study in France thanks to the opportunities created by the Welcome in France strategy for Kenyan students. In response to students asking where to find information on this initiative, Emmanuel Macron directed the students to the Campus France website.

Lucas Wandera Bwire, E-Ambassador for Campus France and PhD student in art history at the University of Pau, was present among Kenyan students invited to exchange with Emmanuel Macron. He was able to discuss the research center project he is trying to create in collaboration with teams of French and Kenyan academics.
