What are you going to study and where ?

I am going to pursue an MFA in Photography and Image Making at the Paris College of Art.

What is your educational background ?

I was raised both in Swaziland and Kenya so have had mixed educational background. Been educated in the British IGSCE system throughout.  After graduating high school at Imani School Thika, I did my undergraduate honours degree at Limkokwing University of Technology in Malaysia.

What is your level of French and give us background info on your program ?

In terms of my French, it’s at a very basic level, I learnt the fundamentals throughout primary and high school but pretty rusty so being in France will probably be just what I need to take my French skills a notch higher. My course is in essence an exploration in digital image making through practice-based and process-oriented research. At the intersection of visual phenomena, new media, critical studies, and creative production, the program offers a unique blend of studio practice, theory and art history.

How did you hear of Campus France?

I heard of Campus France through my director of admissions at PCA.

Why France?

Aside from the fact that the school is offering the exact program that I wanted, I feel like France will be a fantastic change of pace and the right stepping-stone to take my work and career to the next level.

What are you looking forward to most?

The food! Meeting new people! Creating some amazing work!

What scares you the most?

I’m too excited about the new journey to be scared.

And what is the toughest part of the process ?

Probably the language barrier. But I pick up languages easily so don’t think I’ll have a problem for too long. Being away from family is also hard.

What is a must pack?

Kenyan Tea, a couple of masaai shukas, Kenyan flag.

What are you going to miss most about Kenya?

I will miss my friends and family the most as well as the awesome Kenyan weather and chapatis.
