In essence, France is a country that is subjected to a temperate climate. Although there are quite huge differences between the four seasons the country experiences, the weather is often mild. This should be one of the factors you as a student should take into consideration as you are packing.
THE SEASONS
The country has different seasons which come with great changes, evidently. When packing, be sure to pack a mix of heavy and light clothing to cover you for every season.
Spring which is the season that is experienced from March up until May is a season of what we would call pleasant weather. The temperatures during this season are mild and the sun shines just enough.
Summer comes right after spring from June up until September. Here, the temperatures are hot, especially in the south. It should be noted that the temperatures, though hot, never get above 35 degree celsius.
Beginning October to December, autumn is experienced and here; the days are beautiful but are often damp.
Winter which follows right after is cold. The temperature dips frequently and hits the negatives where snow comes down as hard as rain.
REGIONS AND THEIR CLIMATE
Every region in France has its own region and it is for this reason that students are advised to always carry out research on the regions they select they choose their universities from.
The west of France experiences an oceanic climate. Temperatures here differ but they are moderate. Rains here are experienced frequently.
In the east, the climate is continental. Summers here are warm and thunderstorms are experienced sometimes. Winters are cold and temperatures can drop up until below 0 degrees Celsius.
The southern region of France experiences a Mediterranean climate. Winters here are dry and mild and summers are hot. Autumns here are not the most pleasant as rain could sometimes lead to floods.
In the north, the weather is simply beautiful. The climate is tropical and temperatures rarely go below 20 degrees celsius.
