Former Kenyan students in France came together in 2010 in form of an association known as « Association of France Alumni in Kenya », AFRAKEN.

AFRAKEN aims at strengthening links between former students in France, residing in Kenya or abroad, maintaining and developing academic and personal contacts with scientists of French institutions, enlarging skills and knowledge of the French culture among members of the association, Kenyan students and schools.

Its specific objectives are to:

  •   Provide a forum for former students in French universities residing in Kenya and abroad, so as to interact with each other for mutual benefit.
  •   Contribute to enhancement and development of university exchanges between former students and French host institutions (universities and research centers), thus bringing a positive contribution to internationalization of higher learning.
  •   Use the experience and knowledge acquired through academic certificates during their stay for studies and research in France for the benefit of the current generation of students under scholarship and other Kenyans interested in pursuing their studies in France.
  •   Promote knowledge of the French culture.
